As far as living space and views there is not a need.
Although, I would upgrade because I have always preferred to have a kitchen available and the dip pool is much larger than the other units.
We have never cooked when we are in Zihua, but to come back from the market with appetizers or tamales to heat up for lunch is a real convenience. It's nice not to have to always go out for lunch but just to stay back at your hotel to relax, make a Margarita or two and prepare a snack.
If these things are not a priority, then save your money and stay in the standard suites. They are certainly large and comfortable enough for two.
