Hey all~

I'll be in the area looking for birds in a few weeks. I need to get over the Sierras into the Rio Balsas drainage to see a few species endemic to Mexico.

I've read the warnings about driving at night. How about driving conditions on the Autopista Siglo XXI or Carretera Nacional 134 (Toluca Hwy). Obviously the autopista will be a faster ride, but all I need to do is get up over the mountains and start birdwatching. Intact forest is an issue here.
